FCS - The Nature Conservancy’s Gulf Coast Wildlife Rescue Efforts

The leader in functional accessories for standup paddling is proud to announce that it will be hosting its first Paddle for the Gulf event and demo at the Open Air demo.  The race will help raise funds for The Nature Conservancy’s Gulf Coast wildlife rescue efforts. Fifteen-year-old elite waterman and Gulf Coast native, Slater Trout, will be racing all comers in this charity event where 100 percent of the registration proceeds will go to The Nature Conservancy's environmental relief efforts in the Gulf.

Kayak Polo Pitch at the Open Air Demo 11:00am & 3:00pm

Canoe & Kayak magazine and Delta Kayaks invite you to the first ever “Kayak Polo Pitch” during the Open Air Demo.  Two games will be played, at 11 and 3 o’clock. Some experienced volunteers are wanted to play in the games. Contact mark@deltakayaks.com for information. All gear will be provided by Delta Kayaks with international players on hand giving instruction. A marked playing field with nets will be in place. Come experience a true year-round paddle sport that is exciting and fun. There will be an additional practice time to try the sport at 1pm that is open to all. Learn something new and beat the heat at Summer OR this year. Get wet with us. Bring your A-game. You won’t be disappointed.

Pelican

How fast can you paddle or swim? Pelican Products wants to find out at the Open Air Demo Day.  When the air horn goes off,  watertight Pelican Micro Cases (each with a  certificate inside for prizes or cash, redeemable at the Pelican Booth #18050)  will be floating in the lake, there for the taking. May the fastest paddler/swimmer win!   One prize per participant please.

It’s A Shore Thing™ Trail Run, 10:30 a.m.

Trail Runner magazine and Columbia Sportswear invite you on a scenic trail run guaranteed to lift your spirits. As a benefit for GECKO, a Colorado non-profit dedicated to “Giving Every Child Knowledge of the Outdoors,” there is a $10 donation requested at sign-up. Although registration is available at Open Air Demo one hour before start (9:30 a.m. at the Columbia booth), we encourage you to sign up in advance. All OAD attendees must be registered for the show, sign a waiver and get a wristband at the Salt Palace before heading to Jordanelle State Park. There is shuttle service throughout the demo, times are listed below.
