At Aspenware, we make planet and people friendly products such as compostable wooden knives, forks and spoons.
Our packaging is biodegradable cellulose bags labeled with recycled paper tags.
Made from incidentally harvested birch and aspen (which have a
shorter lifecycle compared to most of British Columbia’s forests), no
trees are cut down to make our product.
“Doing what is right for customers, family, friends and forests”
stands for the synergistic relationship that we believe should exist
between people and nature.
Wood is renewable, recyclable and biodegradable making it the material of choice for people today and for future generations.

Brooks introduces in July the first biodegradable midsole, BioMoGo,
which in enclosed landfills biodegrades into reusable byproducts in
about 20 years versus up to 1,000 for traditional EVA midsoles.
Brooks’ new shoe box and all of its inside stuffings, wrappings,
and shoe stays are made from 100% recycled materials and feature only
non-toxic soy-based inks.
Brooks’ proprietary HPR Green outsole—featured in its Trail, Motion
Control, and Walking footwear—is a durable, long-wearing compound made
by replacing some of the petroleum-derived carbon with sand.
Compression Molded Preform (CMP) process, Brooks’ eco-friendly
midsole manufacturing process, reduces manufacturing waste by 50
percent as compared to traditional midsole manufacturing methods.
For printed collateral including brochures, catalogs, P.O.P., and
apparel hangtags, Brooks almost exclusively uses paper certified by the
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and printing is done with soy-based
inks.

DuPont Company

DuPont pioneered a way to produce 1, 3 propanediol or PDO from
renewable resources, mainly corn sugar. 1, 3 propanediol is a key
ingredient in the production of Sorona polymer.
Substituting renewable resources in the production of Bio-PDO, reduces the use of petrochemicals in the production of Sorona.
DuPont Sorona polymer is manufactured in a continuous
polymerization process; as a result, processing problems and waste
generation are minimized, leading to increased productivity and
efficiency and more consistent quality.
The advantages of transitioning to a bio-based manufacturing
process for PDO include a smaller environmental footprint and less
energy consumption.
On a pound for pound basis, production of Bio-PDO consumes about
40% less energy than product of its petrochemical-based counterpart. On
a pound for pound basis, production of Sorona using Bio-PDO consumes
40% less energy than nylon. On a pound for pound basis, production of
Sorona results in 50% less greenhouse gas emissions than petrochemical
based nylon.

Ecology and environmental responsibility were central issues when
building the New Munich Trade Fair Center, the home of ISPO, where they
also provide guidelines for operational policies.
ISPO's exhibit halls feature an 835,000 sq ft. solar roof, still
considered the World's largest roof-mounted photovoltaic system, also
serving as Europe's solar-energy test site for solar cells and power

This use of renewable energy at ISPO's home actively avoids the
burning of fossil fuel which would cause the release of some 3,300 tons
of carbon dioxide.
ISPO and Messe Munich practice Reduce-Reuse-Recycle principles at
all levels from food services to the on-site resource-separation plant

ISPO actively encourages the use of public transportation by

We invite everyone to take part in our Rope Recycling Initiative.
Don’t let old rope sit in your closet or worse, a landfill, Sterling
can have it recycled for you!
Simply send us your retired dynamic climbing ropes or nylon slings from any manufacturer and we will take it from there!
We’ve partnered with an efficient recycling expert that
repelletizes the nylon so it can be re-made into items like carpet
fiber, telephones, coat hangers, children's toys and more!
We encourage reusing rope however; retired rope should never be
used for life-safety! Miles of rope is produced every year so reusing
it isn’t enough to reduce the environmental impact.
Together we
can make a difference. Let’s keep climbers safe and also reuse the
petroleum-based nylon for something else. Go to www.sterlingrope.com or

Timbuk2 has started to think about the way we manufacture our
products in an effort to make this world a healthier, safer and cleaner
place. Timbuk2 has removed all PVC from our core messenger bag products
as of Spring 2007. We've replaced the vinyl liner with a TPU material,
which is just as versatile and durable as vinyl, and better for the
environment (vinyl is made from PVC and has negative environmental and
health implications during its production and life cycle). Timbuk2 also
removed the other PVC components of our bags, such as the essential
reflector tabs and tails, to go completely PVC-free.
Timbuk2 is making bags out of Organic Hemp, Organic Cotton and
other recycled/found materials including used banners and PET
(polyethylene terephthalate), a material made from plastic bottles.
Timbuk2's tradeshow booth is 85% green. It's comprised of recycled
steel and aluminum; All of the plywood used to create the walls, tower,
counter, desk, riser, crates, etc. are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
certified wood, which means they come from well managed and controlled
forests; paints and other materials used are made with low VOC
(volatile organic compound) which means that the vapors do less harm to
the ozone layer.
Timbuk2 continues its efforts to use recycled paper in all of its POP and marketing collateral.
Timbuk2 designed the first completely sustainable, 'eco-efficient'
bag in collaboration with William McDonough and the specifications of
his Cradle To Cradle philosophy-presented at the 2006 Technology,

WaveWalker Ethic of Excellence (WE) includes employing earth and
human friendly processes and materials; we choose partners who share
our ethic, and encourage associates to increase attention to green
steps.
WE use recycled and recyclable materials; from our products to our
publications, our shipping supplies to our sales contracts most
WaveWalker materials have been, can be, or will be recycled.
WE inform and educate partners and customers about our eco-friendly
processes and provide green opportunities using WaveWalker products and
materials; from online paperless transactions to instructions for
recycling shipping materials.
WE manufacture pedal powered kayaks that keep our waters free of
pollutants; the Hydroglide Drive is lubricated with mineral oil, which
is harmless in the unlikely event of a leak.
WE use a non-toxic rotomolding process that is employee and
community friendly combining heat and Polyethylene, a recyclable
food-grade plastic; you can literally eat off the hull of a WaveWalker.
